From the 'Garden of Roy Lancaster'

"A new species originally collected as seed in the Wolong Valley of N. W. Sichuan, in China, in October 1986.

With me it has made a spreading shrub of 7ft x 6ft. I enjoy it for its attractively veined deciduous leaves and shining black fruits."
